Role of the Case Manager
- The Case manager is the rendering provider, which is the name that goes on claims in most circumstances.
- In general, the case manager is also the person clinically responsible for that client's service category, meaning the client is on this clinician's caseload (e.g., the responsible BCBA for ABA or the responsible SLP for ST).
- The case manager must be credentialed/enrolled with the client's payor.
- If the person responsible is not credentialed/enrolled yet, then the Case Manager needs to be someone else who will take clinical responsibility for the client. We recommend that this person be familiar with the case and provide care at least once a month, rather than just signing off on services.
- Each Client must have a Case Manager for all service lines (e.g., if ST and ABA services are provided, each category must have a Case Manager).
- Each Case Manager must have a start date at least 24 hours before the first appointment.
- You will only need to change the Case Manager if the rendering provider needs to change.
- You do not need to change the Case Manager if the Case Manager goes on vacation.
- You do not need to change the Case Manager if the Case Manager goes on vacation.
