If a Power BI report or app isn’t loading, looks outdated, or just doesn’t seem quite right, it’s often related to a cached session, browser hiccup, or sign-in issue—not the data itself.
Before reaching out for help, try the quick steps below. These common fixes resolve most display and loading issues in just a few minutes and can help ensure you’re viewing the most up-to-date information.
Here are some diagnostic steps to try:
- Refresh the Page
Click the
refresh button at the top of the browser.
Wait a few seconds to see if the app loads.
- Try a Private Window (In Microsoft Edge)
Press Ctrl + Shift + N (or click the three dots → “New InPrivate window”).
Log in to Power BI again and open the app.
- Clear Browser Cache (Simple Way)
Press Ctrl + Shift + Delete.
Select Cached images and files only.
Click Clear now.
Close the browser and reopen Power BI.
- Check Another Browser
If you normally use Edge, try Google Chrome.
Log in and see if the app loads there.
- Sign Out and Back In
Click your profile picture in Power BI (top right).
Choose Sign out.
Close the browser, reopen it, and sign back in.
- Restart the Computer
Sometimes a fresh start clears stuck sessions.
Restart and try again.
- Reinstall the App (if needed)
In Power BI, go to Apps (left menu).
Find the app → click the three dots → Remove.
Then click Get apps → search for the app → Install again.
